A Few Oscar Pics

Just so you can see growth rates Mark, thought Id show you this picture of my Tinker when she was 2" and also you can see the change in markings.

And now obviously is the picture in my sig, I got her and tailor in April both around 2" and now they are about 8"

She was quite a mess when I got her, had all her fins eaten off and where growing back weirdly, but now she is perfect.

wow , thats quite a difference mags . you can really see how the fins have healed . cant wait for mine to grow to that sort of size

best thing about these is they look better as they get older. I think they don;t suit being small and weedy they really suit being big beefy bruisers which won;t be long away!!

I know what you mean i like the black edging to their fins too. is there a dominant one?

wow so i know this isnt perfect but say minxes oscars were 2inch in april

thats 15cm divided by 8 so roughly 2cm a month

so marks oscars will grow roughly 5mm a week thats insane

I got Chops in October he was 5" including tail, I have measured him tonight at 8" including tail, he is now bigger than Rusty.

yeah i agree mate they do look their best when they are bigg , the bigger the better cant wait until they grow into beasties

nope for now they are best pals , touch wood it will stay that way when they mature , unless of course they are both male in which case its pretty much 99% certain 1 will have to be removed , but il deal with that if/when i have to .

well with the average of inch a month being quoted for yound oscars , i had that inside probably the 1s 10 ro 12 days

to give you a direct comparison , this photo was taken when i got them just under 3 weeks ago now , the other pics in this threadwere all taken 16 days after this shot was taken
