Never really been that fussed with Malawi tanks but that one makes me want to do one! Really interested in the mass off wood tank too! think when plants have grown on the wood that will look great also.

In all honesty, that is exactly how i was. I always appreciated them, especially when people posted some stunning pics, but they never really grabbed me, but after not feeling the tank when i tried to plant it i thought i would give them ago. I still have a few species i want to add, but it's just a case of waiting until they come up as most LFS around me charge an arm and a leg for them. There are alot of juveniles in there atm, but i will thin out any excess fish/males when i need to. For the time being though they're all getting on great. Plus, when i do come to sell they should help fund any new fish i do want to add.

The wood in the Apisto tank is Mopani. 21 pieces all in all. Still needs a couple more and a few more pieces of Java Fern adding, but it is probably my favourite tank that i have atm. Really enjoying keeping the Platies again, lol. One of the first fishes i kept and these new ones are still bringing me alot of satisfaction. 1 male and 3 females. There is also 15 Glowlight Tetra's in there too. The final addition will be a group of Plecs of some sort. Either Bulldogs, L106 Orange Seams or a small group of L134 Leopard Frogs.

The Shrimp tank just looks after itself. Currently about 3 or 4 females berried so there will be a small population explosion soon. A bit small really at 13 litre, but they must be happy for time being as they're still breeding.

The holding tank is a bit of a mish mash atm. Currently holding a pair of Apistogramma Baenschi Inka and a group of 4 young Pelvicachromis Subocellatus Matadi. Waiting for a pair to form then they will be moved to the 180 with the Apisto's, Tetra's and Platies. That will leave the Baenschi in there to hopefully get jiggy.

I loveeeeee the new tank. I think mopani wood gets a bad rap, and you have really created something great there. The rest of course are lovely too. I have wanted a Malawi tank since I began the hobby but am waiting for the right day in the distant future :)

Lovely looking tanks, especially like the new one with the wood, has given me ideas of what to do with all the wood I have

you always have by far and away the neatest tanks in the world. Do you have OCD :hyper: . But in allseriousness well done they are ace, and I would say yes to the L134's the patterning would look lovely in there and if you got them breeding you'd make a few quid

 I am amazed at the reaction. :hyper:

The one you pictured Spurry won January's Tank of the Month. :)

The sand i have in my Malawi and Apisto tanks is Unipac Limpopo. I want to use Senegal in one of them soon though.

£20 for 25kg at my LFS.

My rio 180 took just over one and a half bags of play sand
That's about 23kg of sand I guess I would need the same in
The unipac sand but I'm sure it's about £16 a bag but I don't think it's got 23kg in it so I would need 2 £32 :(
