A Comprehensive List Of What You Can Feed Fish

Actually Tokis-Phoenix I posted it 1 min before you :p

Thanx so far guys. Anyone got any more or can anyone state if any of the above are particuarly appropriate or not appropriate for certain fish? I dont think you could feed spiders etc to any fish?

Why not? Spiders are on the menu for many terrestial invert eating species of fish with Arowanas and archer fish being just two i can name without even having to think about it.

Good list!

Cant really add anything more too it. I feed most my fish blood worm, daph, crushed snails (most fish will eat a snail in a tank if you crush it first) in combination with flake/pellet foods. Have fed them spiders and ants/ant eggs as well (no idea on the nutritional value of these but they seems to like them).

What fish eat potatoes, banana's and carrots :huh: ??

From what i've read carrot is one of the best food for panaques; acheiving decent growth results. Plus it sinks, rather than having to muck around with screwcumbers and the like.
Brackenridge; canned heart of palm, will be enjoyed by panaques, although there are much better foods (like carrot).

This topic goes into it a little;

Yeah just boil a large potato for about 5 minutes so its still firm and then slice it into 3-5mm thick slices for the plecs to eat
The rest can be wrapped in clingfilm and stored in the fridge till you need another bit.

If you want a potato that doesn't break up even after cooked I would try a red potato. They hold their shape very well. :good: Not sure if plecos like them though. Never tried.

Second helping of spiders then.

How would i serve these spiders? :blink: I hate them so chucking them in the fish tank would be a pleasure!

Why just catch them in a net and fling them in the tank.
