Hi, I am looking for a good, all purpose camera that is around £150 for just the camera, I want to learn much more about photography but it must also be a decent point and shoot, is that possible?

thanks

A Canon Ixus might be the shot. I know a few people with them who are quite happy with what they can do. Personally if I get a compact I want the Fuji F30 or F31, but I think they might be outside your price range.
That said, if you'd like to learn more about photography, forget a point and shoot.
Manual controls are usually difficult to use, and basic photographic concepts such as depth of field go out the window with compacts.

And remember not to get sucked into the megapixel race. Anything above 5 or 6 is overkill for most people, and on a compact, even if you have enough mp for a large print, the quality degrades so much, you still can't print that big. (Sensor size on compacts is so tiny, packing that many photosites in causes excessive noise and detail loss. Less is definitely more!)
