I got this guy with in my Saddleback Oder a while back… it’s all black, it’s lizard type, rather than flying saucer type, and has grown more in the time here, than the other Saddleback, so I think it’s a different species… there are other attempts at photography in my “bucket list” thread,… https://www.fishforums.net/threads/...or-another-week-so-i-can-buy-a-couple.494479/

but it’s extremely camera shy probably the shyest fish I own… I have a back corner of the tank, that is specifically set up to grow algae, and it’s been there almost exclusively… ( that area is impossible to get good pictures )… well it’s out swimming around this morning, unfortunately I didn’t have a camera when it was at the front of the tank… I started this thread as a place to put any pictures of it.. unfortunately these won’t be good pictures this morning, but I’ll keep trying, as it’s thriving, and has grown quite a bit…

Some better pictures of the unknown fish today… 1st picture, the fins look like a saddle back, but the body is nearly jet black, much darker black, than all the other black fish in this tank…

Yeah, it definitely doesn't have the saddle markings. I wonder if it could be a female? Sometimes with relatively unknown fish there is unreported sexual dimorphism.

@WhistlingBadger ... I think you may be right... I saw a picture somewhere, like a wholesaler picture of a tank with 15-20 saddlebacks in the tank, and about 1/3 of them were dark... one of the sellers I buy from, got some large saddlebacks in, and I'm supposed to have 3 more coming... unfortunately my bigger saddleback colored fish, died, while I was working with the bigger hard scape pieces in the tank... I have several little ones, that were listed as red saddlebacks, so I don't know if they are babies, or a smaller species, similar to the others... the black one has been much more active lately, and not hiding as much... this picture taken this morning...
