hello, i was wondering, i got attatched to a 8 inch (gone onto 9 inch longe now) diamond sturgeon, really sweet little chap and very active, is it possible to keep diamond sturgeon in a heated aquarium untill its maybe closer to 2 foot long before putting into a pond? and mixing them with tropical fish?

thanks

If you are in the USA, Check your local laws. I know where I live, It is illegal to catch or be in possession of a Sturgeon.

oh im england, uk, is this primarily a us forum?

we keep em as pond fish here.

It's a mixture of countries. Good people, Very knowledgeable people. If you adhere to their advice, Your fish will live long and happy!

A fish that is 8 or 9 inches long in a 180g tank?! I would say it's fine, but i'm no expert and no nothing about Sturgeon. I never had to know because of the laws here for them. Better to research this I guess. Maybe someone else on here can better help you with this.

Hello, and welcome to the site!!!  I found a bit of info for you here: http://www.pond-life.me.uk/sturgeon/acipensergueldenstaedtii.php

Seems like a 180 gallon (though extremely impressive ) is still very much too small for these guys. They require much cooler temps too, so even besides the size issue, there would be no way to keep them in a tropical community. Very cool fish though, I can see why you are intrigued :)

well he's in a 300 litre quarantine tank atm with some other pond fish ready to go into a pond. he's very active and seems easily entertained. so thought he would do great with some tropical specie aesthetically.
the tank isnt set up yet, so this was to pose question to possibility really.

young teacup rays or something would of been awesome even for a year or 2.!!
