8.0 Ph

i understand that my ph isnt good for them but is there a way to safely lower ph?
Not really it often make the PH very unstable. And for the rams you will have to lower it to about 6.5 which is a big change.

okay my ph is 7.8 actually, ( re tested). And i really want to keep my original stock that i showed. How bad will discolaration be with peat balls? I plan on using driftwood anyways, and i might get a c02 system? would that get ph at 6.8?

or should i jsut stay at 7.8 and allow the fish to slowly adapt. My angelfish are doign fine at 7.8 in my 37 gallon. And i might just not get the rams cause they are not very hardy

as long as the pH is steady and not fluctuating then most fish will be fine. german blue rams as said wont last too long as they are very sensitive fish but most of the others should be fine. ive kept and bred angels and corys in a pH of 7.6-7.8 quite successfully. ive also kept discus in the same water with no problems. most fish unless wild caught wont have even been near their natural habitat/water parameters and will have been raised in tanks throughout the country. just take extra time acclimatising them and they will be fine. i currently keep a very healthy group of 19 cardinal tetras and the colours are immense in the same tank i also have a bristlenose plec, denisonii barbs and otocinclus.
i generally take 45 minutes ish to acclimatise any fish to be safe and to stress them less. dont be too put off by pH statistics unless going for extremely sensitive fish :good: discus are supposed to be very sensitive and as i mentioned i kept them very healthy in normal tap water without issue and i know manu people that do the same. if buying wild caught discus then it may have been different but most are imported from asia where they grow up in harder higher pH water. i know you didnt have them in your stocking but ive just used them as an example.

I agree with mattlee, your stock will be fine except the german blue rams. I have cories, angels, congo tetras, bolivian rams, apistos, a bristlenose plec, snails, and shrimp at a steady Ph of 8.0 and all are thriving. All my fish are tank bred. And I echo, acclimatize the fish slowly, I always slowly introduce fish over the course of an hour.

Have fun. I'm watching my two big male congos right now  doing a display, god their colors are phenomenal!
