Heres my situation...

I got a 75 gal which came with an 8 inch Tilipia But**** something and an 8inch Jack Dempsey. Also a common plec.

The JD was and is still pretty beat up when i got him. I have a divider in now. I called to a pet place and they said they will take the Tilipia.

So what could i put in with the Jack Dempsey? Id like to put in another. At my fav. LFS they have about a 2incher that id like to get. Can juvies go in with a full grown JD?

Also what other fish (which is pretty readily available at the LFS) can i get to go with the same temperment as a JD?

Im also looking at clown loaches and pictus cats...

edit: looking around... how about firemouths and green terrors?

I had 2 6'' JDs with a 2'' JD for quite awhile in a 75g.. among other fish.. They were ok.. not sure if 1:1 would be a good idea though.. depends on the temperment of your larger JD.

Hmm well if i added the juvi JD in. what else could i add in at the same time? are the green terrors... firemouths... pictus... clowns... ok?

I dont think the JD's temperment is too bad. hes been beaten up for years

I don't know how many other fish you could add... I don't know if I would try any more cichlids.. might end up in beaten/battered fish.. maybe some larger schooling fish like silver dollars or rainbows.

Loaches would be fine and any cats aswell, JD's normally dont like their own kind so i would go for a Green Terror or a Salvini Cichlid, Firemouths would be fine too i reckon, My JD already lives with the quoted fish and they get along fine but every fish is different so keep an eye opn anything that you add to your tank.

OK. got rid of the Tilapia today to the LFS (its going out of buisness sometime... sad)

Anyway the tank is home to the full grown JD, and a big common plec.

My aunt has a pictus that she wants to get rid of in her 29gal. Ill most likely take him, and add a couple more.

Would it be best to add in a few fish atta time? like... add a green terror and a couple firemouths at the same time?

I wouldn't add a GT, firemouths, and pictus cats to a tank with a jd and a pleco in it..

You might be able to get away with a firemouth or 2 and 3-4 pictus cats.. but I wouldn't try a GT also.

OK thanx! ill try the pictus first.

and then add a couple fire mouths.

Ill check out this fish shop in the big P-town. i think they might have larger fish...
