75 Gallon Mbuna Photo Diary, Now W/pics Of The Fish.

I probably won't add any plants, I only added a very fine layer of crushed coral (about a half inch) and if the other fish I add are anything like the labs I have now, the plants wouldn't last 5 minutes. They're currently in my 29gal and have been happily digging up the silk plants.

I've a couple of bulldozers for rent if anyone is interested. :D

Ginge, yes I believe I have talked myself into a demansoni. One of these days I'm going to set up a breeding colony of them, but I'll have to satisfy myself w/one for now.

My fish leave the Java well alone so maybe shouldnt be a problem.
Also you can attach it to a piece of rock thus eliminating any digging probs.

:shout: My fish arrived this morning. Everybody is in their appropriate tanks and quite happy. It never ceases to amaze me how well cichlids bounce back from stress. 10 minutes after they were set free in the 75gal they were picking at the algae on the substrate, and a couple of hours later I chucked in some pellets, talk about a feeding frenzy. They are currently still working on their pecking order. The big male lab I already had is trying to keep his two females (that moved w/him from the 29gal) together and away from the other fish. The aceis are chasing each other all over the tank. The callainos are bullying everyone else, the new labs think they are aceis, and the lone demasoni is hanging w/the juvie lab as they are about the same size.

My stockling list is: 7 labidochromis caeruleus, 6 pseudotropheus acei, 6 metrialclima callainos, 1 pseudotropheus demasoni, and in a couple of months I'll add 1 bristlenose pleco, and 3 pim pictus.

First up 3 pics of the aceis.

Enjoy!

Nice. How you liking them now? The demasoni should colour up alot when it get a bit more confortable. I dont know why i say this but id say its a female???

I'm loving it. It's so nice to have lots of activity after staring at an empty tank for so long. I'm sure in a week or two they'll fully color up, although they already look a lot better than when I opened the box.

:D i especially like the brown rim on the tank goes really well with black cabinet keep the good work up :)

 Yeah, looks good doesn't it. Unfortunately when I originally priced tanks, the LFS had black and brown, and when I went to buy it, this was the only one left. Oh well.

They all got along great. The acei's kind of became dithers for the labs so I saw them a lot more than before. However, the tank is just getting over a very bad bacterial infection which I still don't know how I got. I lost 10 fish altogether, and I'm still deciding how I'm going to restock. Anyways, the original stocking when really well together.

Nice tank and great fish , really good to see you got over the trouble you had the other week.
I think I`m going to get a lone Demasoni slightly nervous about whether it will be ok as you read a lot about their aggressive nature.

AMAZING really ]
i love your tank

great fish too

the only thing i can think of that could help the look is a couple of anubias plants here and there

:good: good job

I've been thinking of getting some java moss and attaching it to some of the top rocks so when it grows out, it would kind of look like a hanging garden if I do it right.
