70 G Bowfront Discus Tank

Incredible tank but I have to say that the neons are not a good idea. Though discus do get somewhat bigger than most people anticipate and can (and will) eventualy eat those neons, the real problem with keeping neons with discus is that neons don't like the very high temperatures that discus do.

Ah I will keep an eye out for any neon munching. I am thinking of giving it to my friend, but he is still in the process of cycling. Thank you for the comments!

whats wrong with your white discus, his fins are torn up it looks like..and all drooping downwards instead of flared up like they should be??? other than that beautiful fish and tank. i dont think you have to worry about the neons, it should be ok.

She had some fin damage a few days ago from a netting freak accident. She is healing quite well but is just roughed up a little bit. She eats and swims normally.

I disagree about the temperatures. In their native habitat cardinals and neons experience water temperature of 30-31 Celcius. They should thrive in the same types of water that Discus do!

As for keeping discus and neons together it seems to vary alot, although at some point they may prove to be too tempting for the discus. Having said this i have seen many beautiful setups with a few discus and a large shoal of neons/cardinals. It seems if you have them in a fairly descent group they do not get singled out by their tankmates.

Lovely discus btw, not seen one like your white one before.

The white discus looks like she has eyelashes, what a sweetie!!

I've never wanted discus as they seem too high maintenance, but if I were ever to see a white one like that lovely lady I might just change my mind!
