6 Foot High 30-Gal Hex Tank Stocking?

Hey everyone! I discovered this tank in a local classified ad, and am curious what kind of stocking would be possible in it. 6 feet high doesn't leave a lot of horizontal room, so I'm completely clueless what kind of stocking options I would have if I decided to buy it. It just looks awesome and barely takes up any floor space, I figured it might make a unique addition to my tank collection . Any suggestions are welcome!

From the sounds of it, not much though, depends on how wide the tank is.
 
Probably nano tank stocking might be best, just choose a few for each level of tank so it fills it evenly enough.
 
Does that tank come with heaters and lighting?
 
i just imagine a 6 foot high narrow tank would be difficult to filter and light properly as well as maintenance, how will you clean the glass at the bottom of this 6 foot high tank?
 
Plants at bottom as well perhaps?

For whatever reason, I am unable to paste a link, and am far too lazy to type out a 80+ character link haha. The tank looks to be about 10" horizontally, and it is acrylic. It has a black base with LED lights underneath that light up through any clear substrate (glass pebbles most likely). Black canopy top thing with another set of LEDs, pics from the ad show it adequately lit. You can find the tank new at www.wayfair.com, which is the cheapest place to buy it new for 700$. He's selling it with a Fluval U2 filter, Aqueon Pro 250W heater, water flow pump, air pumps and a bunch of other accessories for 300$.

Its not really a tank iIwould go for personally tbh.
 
It does not include a heater in the pricing also says has under gravel filtration, trouble with that is needs to be maintained and cleaned regularly, not sure how you're gonna reach the bottom of that tank to do gravel vacs as well as cleaning the under gravel filter.
 
Also this tank is made of acrylic, which is easily scratched during cleanings, so need to be a bit more careful during cleanings.
 
Other than that, it will restrict you stocking options quite severely and as mentioned before nano tank stocking options for each level of water may work. Not easy i don't think.
 
Maybe as a planted only tank might be interesting focal point.
 
Think best to stick with conventional rectangular tanks as make life much easier.

Conventional tanks are great if your main mission is purely to keep fish.   If your mission is to make a small area pretty with a fish tank, unfortunately sometimes conventional tanks don't fit.  I would say the same as everyone else, stock it according to the 14" x 14" footprint and you should have 0 issues. with the fish.   Cleaning the bottom may prove to be tricky, this certainly is not an ease of use style tank, but it is not impossible!  I was going to get one like this that had a clock on it, deal fell through though.

A lot of these tank come with (or are displayed with) plastic plants up the centre. I imagine it would be quite difficult to get much else growing as so little light will be reaching the bottom.

i would say for fish maybe neon tetra flame tetra guppies endlers livebeareres mosquito rasbora are all highly suitable but thats just a few dont know if something like disc shape tetra or barbs would be ok for the bottom the only fish that would be suited to that tank (as for my awarness) would be pygmy cories maybe a group of 4-5 possibly hope it all goes well the only plants i know of that would do really well is vallis gigantea (will most likely grow to the height of the tank fast growing ver very undemanding although it dose need medium light levels

I wouldn't buy this tank. Seems a nightmare waiting to happen. If you're bent on it though you should get maybe a betta and some micro rasboras/ tetras. Although tbh any fish are a stretch in a 10 inch hex.
