unfortunately i dont do plastic... they just dont look right to me, but i get what your saying.

The tank gets direct sunlight from the window, as does my 4ft... thats what puzzling me. dont suppose you know of any other way to increase the correct light to promote good growth do you? i feed the plants every fortnight in all the tanks with KB Plant food.

You may need CO2 injection.

And you can add another bulb too that tank. How many gallons is the tank and how many watts is the light u curently have?

Watts Divided by Gallonage = Watts per gallon

If you get another light, youll probably have to inject CO2.

You will get a brilliantrly lit tank, and healthy plants (and more plants)

Ive never had to have CO2 in my tanks.... and my plants are growing like mad. One tank gets alittle direct sunlight, but its plants are doing the worst..... and theyre still good haha

It really looks like there isn't enough light. Not only should you add a second lamp, but you should paint the wood the lamp is mounted on. Find a good reflective color, white works great but there are paints meant to make a surface reflective, kind of a silver color.

the inside of the hood has been covered with reflective sticky foil stuff.... i have doen the same on all the diy hoods i got :)

i will try anbother light though as well and see if that gives me any luck :)

Well i took the plunge yesterday and added a 2nd 40w lamp to the tank. hopefully this will solve my poor growing plant problem LOL

good stuff, contemplating doing the same with my 4 footer......... surprisingly enough Ian thinks I should get t5's
