I have had three batches of eggs now Luke, not managed to get any to survive yet.
The first batch quite a few reached the free swimming stage, all then got eaten, I was not prepared.
The second batch were laid late at night, I did not have a sponge filter so intended to get one the next day and have a go, the eggs were eaten overnight.
Both lots of eggs were laid on an anubias leaf.
The third lot of eggs was actually only about 10 days ago, this time I had my sponge filter ready, always have some spare sponge in the canister too.
Unfortunately they decided to lay the eggs on the fluval filter intake for the canister filter which is ribbed. I could not rescue the eggs. Once again they were eaten overnight.
This is the problem I think with breeding in a community tank. I also have too many plecs in there really.
This tank is actually going to live with my mum tomorrow, due to my marine tank and a new marine project, I have decided to let my mum get some pleasure from these.
I will once the room is decorated, be retrieving the L260 plecs to live in their own 20g tank all to themselves. There are not that many pairs about and they desrve the chance to breed. This will be my only freshwater tank at home then.
I will keep this up to date and inform of any breeding occurances, but it will not be looked after on a day to day basis by me anymore. I have severely been bitten by the Marine bug, there is no going back.
