Just thought i would share a quick picture of my 55 litre planted tank that i have recently set up. It's only been running since Sunday so still not quite how i want it, but more plants are on their way and i have more moss to add (no idea where though?!)

Anyway, currently in the tank are 4 Cardinal Tetra's,3 Panda Corydoras, 3 Apple Snails and a baby Bristlenose Plec. The Cory's and the BN will be moving into my 180 soon though and being replaced with 20 Cherry Shrimp courtesy of ColdCazzie.

Lighting is an old T8 Gro-Lux tube which i plan on replacing soon as it's probably past it's best. Also have some white LED strips running as sun up and sun down lights.

Dosing with TPN+ and Flourish Excel daily.

Any thoughts on stocking? Was going to rehome the Cardinals and replace with about 8 Glowlight Tetra's, but the Cardinals colours have intensified again now they're in their new home and i am considering keeping them and upping to 8 (which would probably mean me buying 6 as they usually keel over on me! )

Advice, comments and critisism welcomed :good:

sorry not sure what to stock but i have to show love for that wood, amazing where you find that? or was it shop bought? either way i would love it.

It's Sumatran driftwood. About £10 from the LFS. It's not as nice as Redmoor wood, but then again it's not Redmoor prices.

Think it would look better with some more open space at the front of the tank, IMO.

thanks for that it looks really good, i've been looking in maindehead but never see anything like that :(, looks spot on in that tank. you do get what you pay for but that looks real good.

In the middle?

It just doesn't quite look right, I think personally I would have put more smaller bits of wood/rocks rather than the two big bits.

Hmmm... i see your point i think. I may have to try and source a smaller piece of wood then. :/ I want a branchy piece so i can use moss on it. This one does have quite a big 'root' on it which makes it look very bulky. May have to get the saw out!

Don't change your wood just because of another person's opinion. It's down to whether YOU like it mate. I personally think it looks really good and if you were to leave the space in between the branches clear for swimming and plant it up at the back behind the rock and leave above/in front of the rock clear then it could work really well. Good start (in my opinion!)

Well i have some more plants coming tomorrow, a lucky bag of 40 so i will pick some out and add them in and see what i think then take a few pics and see what you guys and gals think to it.

I understand about the wood as it is a big piece for the tank. Would like some Redmoor, but can't justify the price for a bit of wood. :/

Yeah the redmoor is a lot, plus if you want to grow moss over it then what you have looks good, perhaps you could try growing some fissidens on one of the branches, I'm having a go at that soon just waiting for some in the post.

Thanks for the advice. Will look into it. Is it pretty easy going? Ive got loads of moss spare so may add some more to the branches.

redmoor is very expensive, there is nothing wrong with the wood you have :good:

Well I've never tried fissidens before but apparently it clings to the wood quite well, things like java/xmas/peacock moss you need to keep retying as it grows quite loosely but the fissidens should creep. I'll see how mine goes before I pass judgement...
