4ft tank

Piranhas will eat each other if they don't have anything else to eat for a long time, but I highly doubt you will starve your fish, so this shouldn't be a problem, and you can always keep just one if you want. And an oscar in a 55 if fine as long as you have good filtration and nothing else in the tank, because they'll eat or kill anything small, and anything that could live with one without getting the stuffing knocked out of it would be too big to go in the 55 with it anyways. Happy fish hunting...

One thing you haven't told us is your fish keeping experience, are you new to the hobby or have years of experience?

It makes a difference on what you could go for. IMO.

woah what a response!

Thanks! :D

I will try and find out the dimensions today. I think the tank must be big enough for oscars because the previous owner had 2 in there. Some of the other cichlids sound good. Im still undecided really. How big do fish such as firemouths and convicts get? What are the prospects of breeding them?

Thanks again, and sorry for more q's! :)

Tom

the tank is 55gallons. 4ft, but he wasnt sure about the other dimensions!

As for my fish keeping experience. well, i have started with goldfish, and then moved on to tropical which i have been keeping for about 2-3 years. I still would be looking for something impressive to look at, but easy to keep! Any other ideas then?

Thanks so much :)

Tom :)

Wow! There seems to be alot of wrong impressions about pirahnas. Pirahnas would be great for a tank that size. If you want a community go for Red Bellies. I hand feed mine and can actually reach in and pet them. Pirahnas are not solo fish most speices school together. If you get any I would recommend getting atleast 4-5 and with a tank that size maybe more.
