Sorry to pee on your flames here, I think 48 gallon is too small for 9 and 12 inch fish. I would rethink this strategy and stick with fish of 6 inches and under. Even my 60 gallon is too small for 12 inch fish - what are the dimensions of your tank?

Sorry to pee on your flames here,

Hahaha, Lol think you just made my day mel :hyper:

As mel stated Dimensions are possibly more important here than simply volume due to the adult size of the fish in question.

African brown knifes get to around 12inches, BUT are very inactive during the day and are likely to just be content hiding in a cave for 12-15 hours of the day.
They could also be called a flexible fish, so don't take up as much room as most other 12inch species.

Senegals can to 20" in the wild but in a tank you are looking at between 8-12" Again quite a flexible species,
In the species index it gives a min tank size of 30G which i believe would be ok if you were keeping 1 Senegal and nothing else, with the amount of tankmates that you are wanting to keep i would be looking at at least a 60G if not a 75G

ALL of the other tankmates that you have selected above need to be fully grown, before you add these two^ or else they will become food.

Also I take it you mean Synodontis species ?

yes i meant synodontis

I really want the african brown knife and i've heard it will work due to it just hovers in one place the majority of the time. Same with the senegal.
