My guppy was pregnant when I got her 47 days ago but there still isn't any fry. Any ideas?

Ahhh I've had the same issue in the past with new guppies.  I got two already pregnant females and they became huge.  They stayed huge for almost two months!

They take some time to get comfortable in a new tank before they give birth.  I'm guessing the stress of traveling and adjusting to a new tank makes them hold their fry longer.

Things to consider:
- How's your chemistry in your tank?  They won't give birth if anything is off with the chemistry.
- How many males do you have?  The minimum ratio of males to females is 1:2.  The more females the better.  Males constantly harassing the females (sniffing their butts) will stress them out and make them hold their fry.
- It may help just to separate males and females completely.
- Try to make a hiding place for your female guppy.  If she's going to give birth soon, she'll be looking for a place to hide.  Also, if you plan on keeping the fry, make sure you have dense plants somewhere for them to hide in after they are born.
- Finally, just to be sure... they are pregnant right?

In the end, patience will be your best bet.  The two guppies I have gave birth within a week of each other.
Good luck!

The chemistry is fine. There are 3 males and 4 females all pregnant. Our local pet store said that would be fine but I'm not to sure. I have 5 fake plants and 1 live plant I think that should be enough? Yes she is pregnant he has gotten huge and has been a box shape for about 2 weeks now. Sometime she hovers above the plants for some time but nothing ever happends oh and it is a 5 gallon tank.

I think you'll find the problem is that they are too stressed. a 5 gallon tank is just too small for 7 guppies. It's too small for most things, IMHO.

He's right.  I had four guppies in a 5 gallon tank before, and that was far too much for the girls.

I would recommend getting a bigger tank, and putting the four females in the bigger tank.  Again, decorate with plants that the fry can hide in.  Most people recommend floating plants, but the fry I've gotten hide just about everywhere.

It's such a good feeling when you first see fry.

The problem is then moving them on. If you don't have tank space for when the fry have grown into adults, you have find somewhere that will take them. Not all LFS will do so.

As big a tank as you can (A) fit in the space and (B) have the money for.

The bigger the tank, the more options you have.

Space and money isn't an issue. I just have to beable to clean it myself, have a bad back :( what do u think the min. Size should be I would like to keep some of the fry but the rest I already have homes lined up for

7 guppies I would say a minimum of about 15gallons. Go up from there, depending upon how many fry you want to keep.

Guppies can have a lot of babies, especially if this is not their first pregnancy.  Just something to keep in mind because although fry are small, cleanup of 50 fry (which is possible!) can be tiresome.

If you have the option, get a fry tank.  I'd recommend a simple 10 gallon tank.  Make or buy a sponge filter, and pop it in.  Try not to use gravel cause it will be hard to clean.  I use 1-2 inch stones in my nursery tank.  It makes the vacuuming of the poop much easier.  Make sure they get decent amount of light so their spines will grow straight, but also make sure they have darkness at night so they can rest.
Feed them very finely crushed flakes.  I would recommend just buying Hikari First Bites.  My fry love that stuff.  Give them baby brine shrimp once and a while too.  When they get bigger, tropical micro pellets will be good.  The key thing to remember is they do not eat like adults.  Feed them multiple small meals every day.  I've heard all kinds of ideas about how much to feed them, from three to even eight times a day!  I think eight is excessive.  I raised my fry on 4-5 small meals a day.

Cheers and good luck!

Ok so I bought a 29 gallon tank on april 25. I took the males out for time being. Hopefully soon I will have some little ones :)
