40g Stocking Ideas

I have a cycled 40 gallon tank with a couple of plants and a piece of driftwood and I'm looking to stock it. I want to put something interesting in like angelfish but I'm afrad that it is too small. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

it depends by what you mean by interesing. Do you like big or small fish? Does color matter? Are you ok with algea eaters, or would you like middle or top level swimmers? Do you like livebearers? Would you like a community tank, or a species tank?Do you want active fish?
