Heya guys, ive just moved house, and my main tank is empty :( (went on holiday, left my tank in the 'caring' hands of my old housemates, who proceded to unplug it to plug there guitar amps in, and never plugged it back in. lost my entire tank  This was the last straw and i moved out a week later!)

So, here we have it, a blank canvas. Any ideas anyone have? Its a 34g, 36"x18"(high)x12"(deep)

Sooo, we have 30" of fish to play with. I would ideally like a nice shoaling fish for mid or top level of the tank, a few shrimp, a small group fo cats, and anything else you can think of. i was thinking for the background of a tufa rock (lava rock) In the style of the chilid tanks you see, lots of caves and swim throughs, so maybe some cave dwelling fish/inverts could be nice?

Either that, or a chilid tank? any reccommendations on these fish? I dont know huge ammounts about them!

i reckon a centre piece fish ummm red tail black shark then a group of say 8 cory cats i'd go 4 aneus and have 2 albino 2 bronze 2 black and 2 hi fin of eny colour then as a shoaling fish 10 or 12 harlequin raspboras

hmm... mabye a breeding pair of convict cichlids, they'll fill it up pretty quickly lol... if you don't like that idea, how about a nice community set up of zebra danios, black skirt tetras, neon tetras, cory catfish and a centre piece fish of some sort... like a shoal of red and blue columbian tetras...

First cycle the tank.

For fish I would have 6 otocinclus, 10 small schooling fish, a few praecox(sp?) rainbows, and 6 panda cories. Maybe after a while I would add a few hatchetfish, too.

If you don't need a larger centerpiece fish, I would fill it with different kinds of rainbowfish... a good group of 3 different ones, then maybe a few cories for the bottom. Plant it well with good cover to really bring out their colors and you'd have a really active colorful tank.

I say, get a pair of kribs, then a shoal of 10-12 lemon tetra's, then a shoal of 10-12 cardinal tetra's, then 6 panda corys, and to finsh the tank, 10 amano shrimp.

Thanks so much for all the feedback guys! Im spoilt for choice, i like all the ideas!

Im really loving the krib and tetra tank, that could look really good.

Keep em coming! All suggestiosn taken on board.

i would heavly plant it with some bogwood in the centre of the tank. put about 30 neon tetras in. looks very smart!
