3 Days Without Filter

Ok, so today I moved all my fish (and filter, substrate and most of the plants) from my 240L to my new 180L.

Now, I'm hoping to get a honduran red point from minnnt on Thursday, but I won't get the EX1200 which I plan to use on the 240L until Sunday.

So my question is, would a baby hrp, at 1-1.5 inches be alright alone in a 240L tank with a few plants (some moss, java fern and anubias), with no filter, for 3 days?

the plants should eat some ammonia

and if you did a bit of a water change each day...

It'll be fine, just go steady whilst feeding.

Yeah I was hoping it would be ok, a single baby fish in 240L is pretty low stock...there's not a huge plant mass so I wouldn't expect them to use a huge amount of ammonia, but they may help.

Slight water changes everyday will help Caz. Have you not got a small back up filter?

Littlemonkey kept a fair amount of her Ellioti fry in a small tank with no filter and just performed daily waterchanges and they did fine.

Sort of, I have a fluval 2 but currently it's in the tank in the garage providing some water movement for the plants in there. Even if I did use it, it would be woefully inadequate for a 240l tank! Lol.

And yes, it won't know what to do with itself!

I was hoping that any ammonia would be so diluted that even daily water changes wouldn't be needed. Mainly because I won't actually be here, I'll be at Warwick Uni. I leave Friday morning, and get back Sunday evening. And then I'll have the filter from James, so it'll be fine then!

It will probably be fine. Are they definately coming then? If so i won't feed for a day before hand which should help with any ammonia issues.

If it's as straightforward as you said the other day then yes, but she still needs to check on the map. I have verbally prodded her again!

You lucky so and so. I know this is a bit difficult, but any idea what time as i will make sure the missus is in with it bagged up and filter pipe too.

Not a clue, it depends on what time they are done sorting my sister's gumph out, plus they're picking someone up in London too apparently however if you pm me a contact number they will ring when they have an idea, if that's ok?

And ye I'm dead excited - £8.49 each. They had kuhlis too, which I'm now trying to figure out if I can reasonably house in my 180 with everything else LOL

Fairly decent price then, shame you didn't want the bigger ones though, James' are a steal at £10 for 3!

I reckon you could get the Kuhli's in the 180 personally.

Will PM you the missus number so they can ring when nearby or whatever. I will catch the fish in the morning and put it in the breeding trap so it's easier for Laura to catch it and bag it.

yeah I know but I need to go slow cuz I'm going to be building the filter up from seeding. If I find some adults when I'm actually looking for them then I might be tempted
