Not sure this is a question even answerable.

I've added a second filter to an already well matured tank. Is there any reason to think this second filter will mature faster than the original took?

If the original cycled filter is processing all the waste produced by your current stock level (for this demo being 20 fish) adding a second filter will only eventually produce the same amount of bacteria but divided between the two filters.

Something like this may make sense....

20 fish >>>>>> FILTER 1 = 100% bacteria (cycled set up)

20 fish >>>>>> Filter 1 = 100% bacteria + New filter 2 = 0 % Bacteria

over time (quicker than starting over)

20 fish >>>>>> Filter 1 = dropping to 50% bacteria + Filter 2 = raising to 50% Bacteria.

Each filter will now process waste from 10 fish in separate tanks
