hello
i've got a 260 juwel bowfront. the coral sand is ready to go. got two large pieces of rock ( one of which i can only just carry ) their both going to be put on under gravel filter system plastic to spread the weight. got five smaller rocks that harder up the water. ain't got a filter for it yet. 5 peacocks to go in. im wanting to add saulosi but dunno how many i can have? i really like clown loaches too but i suppose they wouldn't be able to go in with malawi would they? its only 4ft long by 2ft tall by 1 foot wide. thanks for your help.

Is it the Juwel Vision 260 by any chance? I got this one.

Get the biggest filter you can afford. I always put one species of fish in in groups of 4-6, so you could do the same with saulosi. If you can sex them then 1 male 3 females or if you go for six 2 males and 4 females.

Maybe leave out the clown loaches as they get very big and like to be in groups, so a 6ft tank would have been better. Maybe some of the smaller plecs instead? There is a list in the Pleco section listing quite a few that stay under 8 inches.

im not sure as im buying the tank in.the morning from a mate. yeah the clown loaches is what i thought. shame as i think they would of gone in well colour wise. using the male to female ratio of 1 to 3. do ya think 3 males and 9 females would be ok with the 5 peacocks i got in that size tank with two plecs? yeah im thinking of getting two matching external filters one for each side. each filter being 1000 lph should be enough i thought. thats turning the tank over 8 times an hour. thanks for the reply mate.

3 males to 9 females sounds ok in theory, but (and it's a big but) you need lots of hiding places as the males could get aggressive towards each other. No, not could, but most likely will. Hence it is probably better to stick to 1 male to 3 females and get different ones instead, preferably different colourings so the males don't see each other as competition. Does that make sense?

yeah im with ya mate. bit gutted as my mate let me down about the tank. sold it to his sister who ain't really into and is putting 6 oscars in it. silly ppl.

Oh no, so sorry to hear that. What a shame. Have a look on ebay, you never know when the next bargain is around the corner. I got the Rio 400 for the grand total of 99 pence  Six oscars in 260 litres. Poor them
