Hi all i am looking for a bit of help here
I have a 20ltr aquamode 300 tank that i use at the moment as a fry tank and was thinking that as this is going to be the last lot of fry i will be using it for, could i use it fir a small handfull of dwarf gourami (the wifes favorite) or mayby 10 to 12 neons or cherry barbs (her other favorite)

Groups of neon's & cherry barbs would be good... cherry barbs are great active fish as well as neons which are good to watch :)

20L is REALLY small (only about 5 gal), so honestly I don;t think you;d be able to fit any of those things in there. Maybe a betta, or shrimp tank? Maybe a few microrasboras like chilli rasbora? I have these in my 50L and I can't image neons or cherry barbs fitting comfortably in my tank, never mind one half the size :(

I have 4 neons in my 48litre and although I'll be upping the numbers I'll not go past MAX 7 or 8... 20litres is far too small for neons IMO

Im sure a shoal of neons would be ok for a 20 litre? ...that's more then enough space without the cherry barbs anyway. ... a group of 10 or so should be fine. I have neons & cherry barbs in a 35 litre and they are fine.

A small shoal of neons would go ok, a slightly larger shoal of chilli rasbora or galaxy rasbora, a single male fighter (betta) or a pair of peacock gobies.

10 or 12 is quite a bit... I'd get like 6 or 8 for such a small tank. But not chetty barbs, neons will be alright. Cherry barbs are a bit much.

I'd also aim for a betta rather than a dwarf gourami. Some people on this forum say that dwarf gouramis actually get pretty big.

Another option would be to buy a new small 10 or 20 gallon tank all together, and use the 5 gallon as a hospital tank when need be, if you don't have a hospital tank already.
