2024 NFL Discussion

Not sure what to think about the Conference games. Not surprised that KC and Philly won but wanted both games to go the other way. At least the Chiefs/Bill was a decent game.

Washington/Philly game was over when Philly scored the TD just before the end of the first half. It just seemed to take the wind out of Washington's sails and they played the second half like they were going through the motions. While they were borderline I did see a couple of calls by the officials that were questionable on key plays.

Bills/Chiefs, I think, was determined by the interception that wasn't resulting in the Chiefs getting a TD. Bills defender and chiefs receiver hit the ground with the Bills defender in control and the play is over, down by contact, yet the officials let it go until the Chiefs receiver takes away the ball. The play should have been over when they hit the ground with the Bills in possession. I may be a bit biased on this as I was pulling for the Bills but that is how I see that play. I was kind of torn with this game as to who I wanted to win. I was sort of for the Chiefs so they could go for the 'three-peat' but was also partial for the Bills as I'm just tired with hearing about the Chiefs. It is like the Patriots dynasty, and yes they had a dynasty run. Chiefs are on the edge of a dynasty but not quite there. They win this Super Bowl and dynasty is their middle name. If they lose the Super Bowl it will take a lot away from what they have already done and they will have to win a couple more to be called a true dynasty.

Thinking dynasties it bothers me that nothing seem to count if it was before the Super Bowl started. Ya I'm biased but I truly think that the Browns had the most dominant dynasty in the history of Football but what the did in the 1950-1960's no longer count as it was done before the "Super Bowl Era". Otto Graham played for the Browns for ten years and took them to a championship game every year winning seven. And it wasn't just Otto as he had Marion Motley and Jim Brown running. Add Lou 'The Tow" Groza and receivers such as Mac Speedy. To me this is the greatest dynasty. How can one argue against 10 straight championship games and winning seven?

NFC game was a classic beat down. Not unexpected though. Philly is in high gear ... KC is a beast though. I think we have the two best teams in the SB.

Watched the Pro Bowl flag game earlier. I know a lot of people think it is stupid but I sort of like it. I like seeing some of the players just playing for fun and messing with each other. It shows a different side of the player than we normally don't see. :)

Not that I pay a lot of attention to 'mock drafts' but it seems that my Browns are expected to take Travis Hunter with their first round pick. He plays for the Colorado Buffaloes and is a force at both wide receiver and corner, ya, he can play both offense and defense. If the Browns DO take him I think he would primarily be at wide receiver and mayhaps used on defense as a nickle back. He is being compared to greats Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey. The main concern with the Browns has been the lack of a QB on offense but it isn't all on the QB. Browns receivers, I believe, led the league the last two seasons as to dropped passes. The QB can only put the ball in a catch-able spot, can't also catch the ball although a few times that has happened, normally on a tipped ball.

Oddly my two top hoped for the Browns first round pick are both play for the Colorado Buffaloes. The other is QB Shedeur Sanders, son of Deon Sanders, the team's head coach. The only reported doubt about Shedeur Sanders is his ability to be a leader but that can somewhat be taught. Like Hunter, Sanders is also an extreme talent. Here are some credentials, pretty impressive! He played two seasons of college football with the Jackson State Tigers, winning the 2021 Jerry Rice Award and 2022 Deacon Jones Trophy before playing two seasons with the Colorado Buffaloes, where he won the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

I would be happy with either pick.

Superbowl on Sunday. Are we getting excited yet?
So are you going to watch it alone, with family/friends, or are you going to the local pub?
So what are your plans for food on Superbowl Sunday. Are you cooking, eating out, or ordering in?
Should be an awesome exciting game as we have two excellent teams competing for one Lombardi trophy.
Any predictions for the game? Who are you rooting for? I have no favorite team...I just want to see a great game.
No matter who wins, it should be a very competitive close game in my opinion with a lot a seesawing of the score during the game.

I'm sort of on the fence as to KC. Part of me wants them to win just no one has ever done three in a row. Still, another part of me is just tired of hearing about them.
KC has the benefit of the Taylor Swift lucky horseshoe effect.

But Taylor Swift is from Philly. So, of course, I'm hoping she sends Philly a little hometown love. I think we need it!! I'm hopeful but worried, my usual pregame thoughts, only intensified!! We haven't given any thoughts to foods yet. I'll have to consult my husband's latest superstitions. Hoagies but not cheesesteaks?

I haven't watched or listened to any hype about the Superbowl. I'm just anticipating the BIG GAME and stocking up on energy food....cookies, cake , ice cream etc. The coffee pot will be running all day...got to be wide awake during the game. We'll figure out the main course by Saturday.

I do look at my Eagles injuries. & I also saw its Saquan Barkley's birthday. I hope he gets to kiss the trophy & he gets a ring!!

Still no food ideas, it'll just be 2 of us. We're going to be way too into the game to be good hosts or company. I plan on stress eating all game long but not having to actually cook much during the game. I'm thinking a trip to Trader Joe's for frozen appetizers, crackers, etc.; my husband is thinking hoagies I'm sure. Artichoke dip? Chicken stuffed japenos? Hummus & veggies? Nachos are classic. Can you tell I'm hungry now?

Oooh, deluxe ice cream, a super snack! We do have ice cream but not 1s that go with blueberries or cherries; our fruits of the moment.
There is something with me, frozen bananas and chocolate. In fact, while I haven't had in ages, whole frozen bananas coated in chocolate are awesome!
