this is my 65 gallon “wild type” sword fish breeding tank… but it also has a male high fin sun set platy ( no need to worry about him breeding, he can’t catch anything with the super size “cape” he wears ) also 1 super red bushy nose pleco, a few dwarf mexican orange cray fish, and about a dozen orange neocardia shrimp… there are 2 mature male swords 6-7 mature females and currently 6-7 batches of fry… there are 2 rarer hoya plants growing out of the tank, in pots, with live moss on top…. one variegated ( high white ) and one black margin, then some java fern , and some Cryptocoryne undulata, in pots in the tank

these are actively breeding, as there is another group of new fry today, after the original posting…

This is a 60 gallon Lake Tanganyikan tank home to 5 adult J. transcriptus and 2 juveniles, 2 Submu Dwarf Altolamprologus compressiceps and a colony of
Neolamprologus multifasciatus. The Julies and compressiceps live mostly on the rocky left side of the tank and the Multies live in snail shells on the right side of the tank. There are a variety of plants including swords, anubias, guppy grass and crypts. Pothos plants live aquaponically on the right, rear rim of the tank. There are two filters: AC 110 and an air pump driven sponge. The water has a TDS of 550 ppm and a temperature of 79F maintained by an Olushy 500watt heater.

There are a few upgrades made to the discus tank from my last appearance on TFF TOTM. This time i made a video.

I have pruned the dominant pogostomon plant to have background and mid-level plants in the aquarium. The plants added Rotala rotundifolia, Rotala blood red, Ludwigia repens and AR mini.

For planting I had to make a 27cm x 17cm x 10cm frame box shape to hold the stem plants firm and have a fine attachment to the substrate making it compact.

If not It would have cost me a fortune to fill up the tank with substarte and still find the aquasoil coarse, which will make the stem plants to float.

Dimensions of the tank is 133cm x 61cm x 44cm. Volume 345 liters cement wall tank with front glass-wall.
The fish are discus, bosemani rainbows, cardinal tetras, SAE, neo-caradina shirmps and trumpet snails.

Plants
• Cryptocoryne
• Rotala macrandra green
• Cuba
• Pogostomon
• Pothos
• Hydrilla
• Hygrofila pinnatifida
• Rotala blood red
• Rotala rotundifolia
• Ludwigia repens
• Pearl weed
• Anubias nana petite
• AR mini

Water Parameters
• Ph 6 - 7
• Temp. 28c
• Dechlorinated tap water

Low tech tank with double tubeline air-pums, gravel filters 12 inch x 12 inch Filter plates and a sponge filter regular size. DIY canister sump filter 2000 lph with filter media above the fish tank.
Stable lighting 80 cm aibao LED submersible light × 2 along with a auto analog thermometer.

I have switched back to 50% water change every once a week for the new plants to stable. Glass wall is cleaned every water change.
Feeding happens daily.
