a few weeks ago got some wild swordtail fry ( spotted helleri ) from a friend. i kept and breed this species 20 Years ago they are easy to keep but sadly not scene in the fish keeping hobby very often Never the less i still think it's a very nice looking fish and well worth keeping

Hard to think that this is what the cultivated swordtail came from these.

I think these look better though!
 
if it was seen in pet shops more often it would become a very popular fish but then there is not many fish keepers like you and me ricefish and old man that can see the Beauty in these wild livebeares.
 
It is indeed a nice looking young X helleri. I finally sold off my all male group of them. I started 2 years ago with all female juveniles and one by one they showed their true gender. I never did see a fry in their tank and once they had all developed I knew why. When I sold them off, it was obvious to anyone they were all robust males, not the thin ones you see with early developers.
