well i added alot as you can tell, added the holy rock and put both the red plant behind it and the green plant in the front of it, both have roots on bottom, RICCIA RICCIA RICCIA was added in the front (only had a small clump but it was FREE so who cares. Considering the big LFS almost crapped himself when i showed it to him, its not easy to come by here). Added some vals in the back, waiting on some corkscrew vals to go with them. Added the anubias plant behind the bogwood. I KNOW I KNOW i have to get better with this plant name stuff. But i did by 7 new plants today so kinda hard to remember all of them. Also added the anacharis on left in front of broad leaf sword. Left micro sword in front on the left, it is starting to run just slower than first thought. Foxtail stayed on the front right (love that plant). I think the red plant behind the rock is Rotala, Wallichii. Otherwise all plants are doing much better except for one.

I changed my iron supplement to kent freshwater plant conbined with kent Pro-Plant. So maybe it will start perking back up. Well any questions or constructive critisism welcome. Thanks for looking.

You anubia is attached to the driftwood right? I can't tell from the picture. I agree with fishkiller, check that rock, it looks suspicious to me.

yes its wedged in behind the bogwood, main root is out and others just touch the substarte its not burried at all really. Holey rock was removed, going to make a slate bridge for the riccia today.

update without holey rock. its getting there i think a few more months and should be looking pretty good

I'm thinking maybe you might want to add another bio-wheel for some more filteration, your filtaration IMO doesn't seem adequete.

200gph is not enough for a 37g? the plastic is just a small plastic grid i found it easier spreading the riccia out on it than just the slate, the riccia somewhat took hold on it and didnt on slate.

phlawed, i love the idea, i`m just worried that your riccia will SPREAD across the slate? I was told when i was tieing down my riccia that riccia does not spread horizontally but only grows upwards, therefore needs to be planted all over the surface you wish it to cover (since it will not spread out to cover it, since it does not root) ??

I`m sure jimboo or gf will be able to tell you exactly what the score is... but thats just what i was told!!

After a week being tied down, my riccia is certainly growing but only upwards not spreading! The edge of where i tied it down is still clearly visable !

Good job tho!

It's recommended you have 10x your gph so for a 37 gallon tank you do 37 X 10 which equals 370 gph. I know my tank doesn't have adequate filtaration according to that but I am working on getting more filtartaion.

who recomended this? I have never in my life heard such a thing. Maybe in 1960 before bio media was available to aquarist. But if thats the case then you recomend having a 75g filter for a 37g?

I dont care which way it grows, i was just stating i didnt have enough to completly cover the slate. i will "spread it out" as it becomes available.

I dont care which way it grows

lol, whats thats ok then!

If i was you, i`d collect it all together, and float it in a net a the top of your tank as it says to do in the riccia instructions. Leave it there for 2 weeks and you`ll have three times as much...i did this for a week and had twice as much!!! That way you wont have the bear slate in ur tank for as long and your riccia will be bigger to start with!!

OR leave it how it is...and stick it out!!!!
