It`s generally accepted that 1ppm of ammonia will convert to 2.7ppm of nitrite, but how much nitrate will that 2.7ppm NO2 produce ?

The correct answer has already been given by Biffster. each 1 ppm of ammonia ultimately becomes 3.6 ppm of nitrate.
