150G Stocking

and i thought i was bad at changing my mind on stocking.......
Haha, Its just theres so many options i dont know what to do. ATM im thinking either a Native fish tank with 5 Perch and a big group of gudgeon and minnows or a pair of snakeheads.
an english river tank is something i have always been tempted to do, there are some great species in our rivers etc. im not sure how legal it is to go and collect them though  perch would look fantastic and have to be one of my favourite UK fish :good:

an lfs near me have a tank set up with about 5 mirror carp in and it looks stunning :good:

Ive wanted to do one for a while and thought now would be a good time to give it a go.

Perch are one of my favourite fish to catch and look stunning especially when in groups.

Ive done some reading on it and aslong as its not private land it seems like you can collect from there using a rod aslong as you have a rod licence but if its still water, somewhere that is owned or somewhere that has been privately stocked its classed as steeling.

I would love to have a tank big enough to keep carp but with them maxing out at about 80lb i doubt it will ever happen.
yeah the carp tank did get me thinking about the potential size  . its probably about 7x2x2 at the lfs way too small but the carp are still only about 12 inches ish. it does look great to see these fish swimming and the scales look awesome in the light but they cant stay there forever....

perch would be a much better way to go and i agree they would look real nice in a group :good:

how about tench or roach?

That is a little bit on the small size but hopefully once they get big they will move them onto a pond. Thinking about it one of my LFS has a tank which must be about 5x5x6'with mirrors and commons in.

Yeah hopefully, there fairly slow growing so should be able to stay in there for a good while before they get to big and apparently there fairly east to rehome especially when big because they take so long to get to that size.

I had thought about them but tench get fairly big and after talking to someone said they would need lots of detritus to shift through which probably wouldnt look to good in a tank. I did think about roach aswell but they get fairly big and with needing to be in groups i thought it would be best to stay away from them.

a group of sticklebacks would be cool and unusual. not sure if they are aggressive though

They are great looking but im not sure where i would be able to get any and i dont know if the perch would see them as food.

we use to get hundreds of then from our local rivers. they use to be sucking on the bait as they couldnt get the hook in their mouths  became a pain when after bigger fish

 Ive never seen any im my river and ive been fishing there every since i was big enough to hold a rod. But there are 100s of gudgeon and minnows although they might be quite hard to catch at this time of year.

alright Kizno1 is it you on the reptile forum whos looking for a reptile in the 150g tank? I keep a BTS. Had problems keeping a reptile in an old tank though vivs are so much easier temp wise :good:

Yeah it is :good:
After more reading the perch dont seem like they will work so im thinking about moving it to my room (because it wont have water in it it will be light enough for the floor to take) and using it for a reptile until i have room for it downstairs.

Thats what i was worried about but im going to give it a try to see what temps i can get it to and if there not good enough then ill just go for the snakeheads or sell the tank and buy a viv. I quite like the BTS but if i can i would prefer a trio of Ackie monitors.

Got some great great great news. After upping the thickness of the lid and styrfoam and putting some wood at the side of the tank to block the draft ive managed to get the water up to temp with 800w so the tropicals are back on. Although im not going for a jag. Im going to have another think and see what i can come up with.

Well ive been thinking and i think im going to go back to nearer the origional plan and go for
4 Uaru
4 Geophagus of some type or a pair of acara
then a pair/small group of a larger plec that i will hopefully be able to breed.
