Hey guys. I've always been told Colorados water is hard as hell, but I was never exactly sure what the exact number was.

After doing a quick test strip test on the water at work, it came out as 150 hardness. I'm not sure if it was gh or kh. Its just a dumb test strip kit that people use so they can bug me all the time asking why they can't bring down acidity and alkalinity at the same time.

Anyway. How bad is 150 for the central and south American based fish I love so dearly?

150 will be fine :) !! my water has a hardness of 180 which is 'slightly hard' so i would class your water as slightly hard too. your fish should be fine wit that, having hard water as well means you arent as susceptable to fluctations in water parameters and they will stay stable :good:

& your plants will love those trace elements.

I have water at 225 ppm of TDS and about 12 degrees of both GH and KH. That 12 degrees is about 200 ppm of hardness so it is hard enough for most livebearers but is also soft enough that I keep things like angels with no trouble at all.
