I want to get a tank bout 100G ive found one on ebay thats 126usg and is near me. The dimensions are 48"X28"X22". What could go in it? i dont want anything to agressive?
Ive always wanted a sev and lima shovelnose is the tank big enough?
I was thinking something like
1 sev
a shoal of rainbow fish or barbs
1 lima shovelnose
1 Bichirs
1 bigger plec or whiptail
a pair of cichlids or a small group. Any idears on what would work?

Ive always liked discus but im not sure. Some people say they are hard to keep others say there fairly easy plus i dont know anywhere around here where i can get good quality discus.

wow those are nice dimensions :D is it a custom made or is a brand I could use one of those atm :)

Not sure on the shovelnose as I know they do get quite big but Im not sure how big, if its about 12 inches I would say you are fine though.

As far as cichlids go, if you like sevs go for it I would either go with 1 or the larger species like green or gold etc or 2/3 of the smaller species like severus and rotkeil. Then you have a good choice if you want some accompanying fish, a good group of some geophagus would be cool, as would guinacara, or a pair of some kind of acara like blues or any of the aequidens group. Red head tapajo geos are nice.

None of the whiptail cats get that big so you could do a group I have some Sturisoma Aurem and they are cool very active much more so than the plec. If you want plecs though research how active they are typically as a species as mine do nothing all day and Im about to trade them in after a year of having them.

A chocolate cichlid would be good in there as well.

Most places say they get between 10 and 15" so they might be ok. I like geos
would you say
1 Gold sev
1 chocolate cichlid
10 rosy barbs
5 geos
5 whiptails
1 Bichirs
/would work? could i add anything else? Do you think adult BNs would be ok or are they likely to get bullied or eaten?

I dont know if its custom built. Its not in to good condition but i might re silicone it and will make a new stand and hood for it and for only 99p evan if i do have to spend some money doing it up its still a good price.

Both combinations would work, i like the idea of the chocolate cichlid, very nice. (personally not to keen on the bichir :p )

aww man that tank is ace I love low stands but my OH wont let me have one like it :(

Stocking looks fine but you need to be more specific with the geos as they vary in size and appearance greatly have a read up about them its a bit like the difference between all the apistogrammas but the sizes really do vary, like you have geophagus pindare at 6 inches and then some of the altifrons variants that get upto 18 inches so it really does depend on what you want to get.

BNs will be fine I wouldnt even think you will have any aggression in there other than the geos but that will just be them forming a pecking order.

i like the Redhead tapajo geos would they work? I was thinking about building a wooden frame around the stand with a little cupboard just to make it look a bit better.

Tapajo would be fine most get 5-6 inches but 8 inches for a big bull male. Again you would need to research which bichir you get as a lot get very big and could eat your whiptails. I think there are other fish you could add but I would avoid cichlids for now and get some catifish etc.

Fair enough. I Know i still need to do alot of research first. i havent evan got the tank yet lol

Ah yeah I know you will, you know your fish :) Im just thinking aloud really lol. Should be a good tank when its all done :)

Haha. What watt heater would be best? Im going to try and get a fluval fx5 will that be alright?

I would have perhaps recommended 2 but I like to over filter my tank, Ive got 1 FX5 on my 240 liter atm and its good but when I upgrade very soon I will want to add an other filter to the bigger tank, but like I say I like to stock heavy and over filter.

I like to over filter aswell i have a 405 on my 30g which does 1300lph. I think ill have to see what i can afford. I might just lightly stock with one and then add another one when i have the money.
