Any good ideas for 125 gallon aquarium stocking. I got it off craigslist with a stand and light and filter for 300 dollars. any stocking ideas.?

I would go for a medium and large cichlid tank.
With something like
1 hero severum or a pair of rotkeil severums
6 congo tetra
4 red head tapajo geophagus
pair of keyhole cihlids
1 royal plec

or you could go for a more aggressive CA cichlid tank
1 jaguar cichlid
pair of convict cichlid
1 big plec

okay i will consider that. I am also wondering about going the high tech plant take route. Any ideas for plants and fish.

In the first list are the cichlids plant friendly? Just wondering because i think that cichlids tear up plants.

It might be best to stay clear of medium and big cichlids then because most will uproot plants or eat them.
maybe
6 angel fish or festivum cichlids
10 boesemani rainbowfish
15 congo tetra
20 corys
4 keyhole cichlids
4 bolivian rams

that looks like beutiful stocking. So all of these fish will work with plants? How hard maintanence be with these fish. Could I use german rams instead of Bolivian rams? Also would there be any aggression issues?

also could I have oto's instead of coriues. I kinda want fish that will eat any algae that develops. And one more question, would these fish eat any and all shrimp I put into there tank? Would they eat Red Cherry Shrimp?

How hard maintanence be with these fish. Not to hard. jUst feed them and keep up with the WC

Could I use german rams instead of Bolivian rams? You would have to change the stocking al little. GBR need higher temps 28-32 which the other fish wont like

Also would there be any aggression issues? In such a big and well planted tank there shouldnt be and if there is there will be enough room and places to get away from each other.

also could I have oto's instead of coriues. Yeah a big group of them shold be fine along as there algae for them to feed on.

I kinda want fish that will eat any algae that develops. And one more question, would these fish eat any and all shrimp I put into there tank? Would they eat Red Cherry Shrimp? The keyholes and rams are likely o much on them but if you get a big group and with so many hiding spots because of the plants the cherry shrimp chould breed quicker than they are eaten so it shouldnt be a problem
:good:

okay, thank you i guess i might follow your stocking as a base guideline. Would you recommend any particular types of shrimp that are relatively cheap and reproduce fast?

Cherry shrimp. You can get about 30 of ebay for something silly like £20 and they breed like crazy :good:

and this might also be stupid but i have some bala sharks in my 37 gallon aquarium that obviously need a larger aquarium. Would it be possible to move the bala sharks in the 125 gallon aquarium, or would it become overstocked?

They could go in there but i think they with uproot the plants when swimming about and im not sure how they would get on with ottos.

okay. Thanks for not being one of those people who yells at u for asking to many questions

Thats alright. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want and ill try and help where i can :good:

Does anybody else have anything to say? I just want to make sure that everybody agrees that this stocking will be okay
