1 External Filter For 2 Tanks

Hi, would it be possible to link up one canister that does 1000l to 2 40 gallon aquariums, exactly the same, same level or is that imposible, trying to save set up money?
Or should i just buy 2 internal filters, would rather not, or could i use an overflow system, any options!?

Theoretically possible I suppose, but it would mean you're sharing water between tanks, so if fish in one tank gets diseased, it'll spread through both tanks.

yeah good point, im just not sure, my max money i won't to spend on filters is £40, so doing it that way would be £36, i'll check internal filters

If this is for your breeding project, I'd suggest you invest in a large air pump and run sponge filters in the tanks; far better for fry tanks as there'so danger of them being sucked in and you get a great growth of microorganisms for the fry to feed from on the sponges.

yeah good point, im just not sure, my max money i won't to spend on filters is £40, so doing it that way would be £36, i'll check internal filters
