Roughly how long do my platys have before giving birth please?

A couple of weeks I’d say. That’s just a guess. But you need to take them out of that box. They stress them up and can lead to stillbirth or premature birth, or even the death of the mother. Just leave them in the tank and let them hide amongst the plants when the time comes.
 
Hello. Platys are my second favorite fish, next to Buenos Aires Tetras. They're so colorful. I have quite a few. Anyway, keep the tank water extra clean, by changing out a little more water and a bit more often. You can never give your fish too much clean water. I would start feeding a little more and more often. If the adult fish are well fed, they'll show little interest in the fry. I always use floating plants like Anacharis and Hornwort in my Platy tanks. The plants provide some hiding places for the fry.
