Zebra Danios Mating?

Ok so I have 3 zebra danios (2 males, one female) in a 10 gallon. this morning I noticed they were darting around the tank flared up and chasing the female around. they would push her into the glass, driftwood, tight corners, etc. and I noticed clear (almost invisible) eggs falling into the substrate.

ARe my eyes playing tricks on me? Are they dancing or mating? OR are they being bullies?

Sounds like mating to me - they are renowed as being easy to spawn.

Just making sure. Aside from being the coolest thing they have ever done, I just wanted to make sure they werent in danger.

To back up that "easy to spawn" rumor....yea. .no kidding.

What's your substrate? The chances are that the eggs will be eaten, unless the substrate is such that the eggs can fall into gaps that fish mouths can't get into. I read once that the optimal substrate if you want to actually raise the fry is children's marbles.

Dark gravel or whatever. Im not actually concerned with breeding them. I am actually watching my flounder go behind them and gobble them up.

My Danios used to do this all the time but only around one of the Fake plants I used to have.

Since I swapped it for real ones they have stopped doing it

I remeber once I was watching them and to my horror all of a sudden a huge cloud of eggs came out all at once

all of the eggs was scoffed in less than 5 mins lol

I have a pair that do it a lot. In the last year, I have managed to save around ten fry, five of which have grown to full size and have created a family shoal
