Hi all,

Here's a strange one: one of my otherwise silver-and-blue Zebra Danios is... ...well... ... bronze-and-blue. Is that a. something to worry about or b. a new and exiting colour morph that will sell for squillions (joke!!)

It's like looking at a copper coin and a silver coin, that's how different the colour is between this fella and the rest of my Danio gang. He/she has been this colour since I bought him/her back in November and is eating, behaving and swimming perfectly normally.

Just curious...

Here's a pic:

it has become sexually mature and is advertising for a mate :good:

Really?

Blimey!! So they change colour when in breeding condition? Wow... I'll have to keep an eye on the fella!

:hyper:

wow i didn't know that either, one of mine is the same colour, i've named it 'goldie'. of the 5 i've got three are bigger and two of those are definately males, goldie being one of them. the female is really quite plump now! got two smaller ones and no idea as yet what sex they are.
Maybe we will both get some fry at some point soon!

very doubtful.
as the spawn they have a habit of turning round and immediately consuming the eggs.

if you want fry best set up a breeding tank.

Glad i found this thread :p was worried about a my male danio. Mine are leopards though. Thanks for the help.

Lets all post our babies if we manage to keep a few haha :D

Good luck!

Regards,
Indir
