Alright so I'm gonna shift things around in my tanks a little... Clowns are everywhere I look so they're easy to find, and the fish store I go to is out of Yoyo's but they should be getting more in a few days. Right now I'm looking to maybe add some Yoyo's to my 125 gallon as a temp home while I save up a little and get another 125 gallon JUST for loaches.

Question is... I've read Yoyos are best in a group of about 5, and I know Clowns like as much as they can get. How many Clowns and Yoyos can I home in a 125 gallon tank? 72x18x21 I wont be getting the clowns until I have the tank so they're a down the road purchase

No good reasons to have 125g just for loaches, you can have a nice group of giant danios or rainbows on top (I use rainbows in a clown/yoyo 125g) and you can indeed go for something like 12+12.

Be careful to quarantine the new loaches and if they happen to be small (yoyo's are often sold at 1" or even smaller) to let them grow a bit first before putting them with larger loaches.

I bought my first 4 yoyos at about 2 inches little less, they are the same size as most clowns I see in stores. I planned on having one or two 1050 or 1400 gph pumps in the tank for current, is that too much for rainbows? I have three in my 125 right now and they seem happy with a minor current

I keep some of my rainbows in a river tank,,,fairly strong current, no issues. The species that don't develop ultra-deep males are likely to like the current better.

any good suggestions on things like rock placements, wood, caves, open areas? I want to this tank as real/natural as possible without t5 lights or c02 injection
