I walked into my room tonight and decided to take a look at my sleeping fish. They were all seemingly asleep or resting. The Tiger barbs just kind of hung in the water throughout the tank, while my Rams and Keyhole cichlids took a more conventional approach and lie down on their stomachs on the sand. My Red Tail shark who is not shy and is always out and about found a cave and lie on the sand on his stomach. My Dojo loaches seemed to "curl up" like a dog when they slept.

What have you noticed about your sleeping fish? i've heard of fish sleeping on leaves or on their back.

I had a molly that had a favourite leaf.

Right now, I have 5 widow tetras, they just hang around and do nothing at night. The zebra danios on the other hand, seem to slow down a little, as opposed to the "I wanna eat everything I see" attitude in the day.

Our three clown loach lie on their side or back when sleeping.
I'm always tempted to poke them when they do this, just to make sure that they're not dead!

Martha, of course, settles down under the sand at night and changes colour to match the sand (as best she can)

Aw that photo is too cute, SirM!

My betta Jerry goes to sleep on a leaf right under the feeding hatch of his tank. His colour fades and if I wake him he is really sluggish and slow.

I've always wondered how bettas get any sleep, since they are labyrinth breathers and need to take trips to the surface.... :dunno:

Our goldies sort of just hang around by the bottom, being boring, while the dojos find quiet corner and cuddle each other.

I've just recently got a few shelldwellers, and they're amazing. Once the light goes off they all go and climb into their shells and go to sleep till morning. Amazing.

Whenever my betta sleeps or is alittle cold their is a big plant in the middle of the tank and he starts to go between it then stops and rest their.
