I have to strongly agree that I wouldn't have a biorb for marine (even though I've seen it done properly and successfully in a highly modified set up), but if you stick with suitable fish (NOT goldfish or fantails of any kind) and keep up with good maintenance then I say biorbs are no more difficult to maintain than any tank with corners.
I maintain my tanks religiously and all my occupants are healthy. Baby biorbs are the most difficult to maintain though and I wouldn't ever put another betta in mine (I've had 3) as I feel they are way too small. I have a small shoal of green neon tetra in there now as well as some pond snails and a few red shrimp
