Your Biorb Pics!

I have to strongly agree that I wouldn't have a biorb for marine (even though I've seen it done properly and successfully in a highly modified set up), but if you stick with suitable fish (NOT goldfish or fantails of any kind) and keep up with good maintenance then I say biorbs are no more difficult to maintain than any tank with corners.

I maintain my tanks religiously and all my occupants are healthy. Baby biorbs are the most difficult to maintain though and I wouldn't ever put another betta in mine (I've had 3) as I feel they are way too small. I have a small shoal of green neon tetra in there now as well as some pond snails and a few red shrimp :)

ive always wondered..do biOrbs make fish seem stretched when you look at them because of the rounded shape of the glass? its hard to explain so i dont know if anyone knows what i mean..

but still?? anyway the tanks look great..ive always fancied a biOrb.

They magnify them to the extent that you're quite surprised how small they actually are if you need to take them out of the orb for any reason

The arcylic is crystal clear but when you watch the fish they tend to vanish into the ethers at the sides. A strange but funny optical illusion

Ive been a long time user and member of this site and dont normally feel the need to post but id just like to say that i have 4 tanks and my 60L Biorb is definately the easiest to maintain. I run it as a marine (fowlr) with a small koralia for a bit of movement, inhabitants are 2x percula clowns 2x cleaner shrimp 2x red leg hermit crabs and a handfull of turbo snails.

I have seen many nano tanks on this site with smaller volume than a 60L Biorb, if you stock correctly then Biorb is an excellent little tank and can be stunning to look at.

The problem that people seem to have with Biorbs is that they are normally stocked very badly ie:- Black moors etc, this is the fault of the owner not the tank!

So come on people lets have a little less Biorb bashing and a little more education on the stocking of these beautifull tanks.

I'm not bashing my biorbs! I adore all of mine and am a moderator on the biorb forum, where we try to educate peeps in the correct way to look after their tanks and their fish :D
I can understand why some folk would get the misunderstanding that biorbs and biubes are suitable for goldies, fantails etc as Reef One irresponsibly put them in their advertising and literature

Any chance of some pics of your marine orb? I'd love to see it :D

However, by far the strangest thing I have ever seen in one is this...

Nice! Interesting to see how you've done that, keeping the bubble tube in etc. Does the filtration work adequately for you? DUH stupid question I guess

A friend of mine got this 30L set up running superbly...highly modified I have to say

sadly she's now dismantled it as she felt the limitaitions were too great and moved on to yet another larger marine set up.

It's still fantastic to think she got all that in to a 30L biorb :good:

i have only just noticed this thread exists, they are all so lovely. i dont have a full pic of mine and the kids have pinched the batteries out of my camera, so i am using this one that i took a while ago( about 3 months) nothing has changed, still looks just the same with still just one resident in there, hes called cracker, and he is such a beautiful betta, hes a grumpy looking sod, but i love him to bits, the tank is next to my bed and i watch it every night falling asleep, i wasnt sure about a biorb before getting one, but i wouldnt be without it now, and as you can see cracker is very happy in there too.
DUCK and DIVE well done on this thread !! :)

Dude who called me a dude, I am a dudette lol. I have seen clowns in far smaller nano's (does it matter if i is round or square?), so thank you for your opinion but they will stay in there for the time being.
Yes it is easy to maintain to the person who asked the question - just ditch the artificuial rock that you get in the kit.

that was a really stupid arguement. U have seen clowns in smaller therefore its right? no it means whoever is keeping them is equally wrong. Go post in the marine section and see what happens. IGNORENT.
