They recently started selling these in Pets at Home in my town... I'm very tempted to get one.
 
When you say the tank size is 20 gallons, is that for each single Panchax? Do they need to be kept in groups or do they do well on their own?

yea 20 gallons is good for a single. they are best housed in trios 2 females one male but a pair is possible too. But remeber that they are predators and can eat and will eat other fish, be sure to house with fish 3 inch plus and IMO prefer housing disk shaped fish due to their mouth size.

You should be able to keep them. I remeber mine they are really fun fish :)
