Okay so i have had my fifteen galloon tank set up lots of rocks nd cave for hiding and i decided to go see what they had at the pet store they dident have any blue rams but they did have yellow labs so i ended up getting two of them about two inches long there is also three corys in the tank which they seem to be chasing a bit so i was wondering if corys were okay whith yellow labs i thought it was pretty funny that they stit out the cichlid food and ended up eating tropical fish flakes i guess thats what there used to eating. how do you sex them they both look the same in color.

Bluntly
15 gallons are really too small
The cories are likely to get killed
And to sex them take them out of the watter flipem upide down and compare there vents picture can be found on the interent to help you identify this way but at a small size it may not be possible

You need to take the Labs back to the shopand get the Rams instead. I've got Rams with Cories and they're fine. Plus your tank is too small for the labs, they will grow to at least 4" Rams are Dwarf Cichlids and will be much better suited to your tank.

the bigger of the two was dead when i went to feed them this morning so its only one yellow lab and three cories is it big enough for only one and he doesent seem to be chasing my cories ive been watching because i have other tanks i can put the corys in if i need to but they seem to be fine i think he is to small to sex my biggest cory is as long as him so i probably wont be able to tell for a while

not big enough for even one sorry.

return it to the lfs and please listen to advice you are given from people with experience.

if you want labs...go buy a 4foot tank and set up an mbuna only aquarium.
or don't buy anymore mbuna..sorry.

IM confused you said i need a four foot tank okey dokey but your last post underneath they are keeping yellow labs in a thirty galoon. and you seem to have no problem with that.

Yellow labs are fine in a 3 foot tank - this is as small as it should be though.

The fact is, one will do just fine in the 15, but it's pretty pointless keeping them alone - all of their charm and character is about interaction with each other - they're grouping fish and are best kept that way.

I think what Gixer was trying to say is that if you want to keep Labs they are best kept in a big tank with similar fish.

It's pointless buying nice fish like Labs if you are not going to keep them in their ideal envirnment, which would be in at least a 30gal(UK) tank. I think that is about a 3' tank but 4' would be even better.

We're not having a go, just trying to help you get the best from your fishies!

Loaf :D
