You can keep a few Lab. Caeruleus in a 20 long, but it's a bare minimum size for the fish. For tankmates your choices are very limited, and a Riverine species like Kribs would be a bad idea. Their environmental preferences, diet, and behavior patterns are entirely different.
You can get a group of 6 or 7 Juveniles with the goal in the end to have 4 or 5 adults. The extra fish can help you get 1 or 2 more females then males, which is desirable since these fish love to breed, and too few females results in over-bred fish.
