Yellow Labidochromis cichlid

I am thinking of getting 3-4 of this yellow cichlids but I want fish that swim near middle of tank to see colors, not ones that stay in rocky areas or plants near bottom essentially hiding. Do these swim around or hide? Thanks!

Mine do both.

All African cichlids require rocks and caves to be happy as this is what best replicates their natural environment. It is best for them if you provide some places for them to hide if they feel threatened or need shelter.

I found the more rock and hiding place you have, the more a fish feels comfortable to come out. What tank size and fish do you have?
