hiya all
well i think my yellow lab is holding for the first time. now i know from reading & researching that they hold for around 3 weeks, but my question is a bit of a silly 1 really lol
here goes : will the female only hold eggs if there is also a male there ????
or will she hold eggs even without a male ???
the reason i ask is yes i have 2 of them but the bigger 1 is holding & not sure if i should have seen some sort of spawning behaviour.
thanks trace

congrats

got an extra 10 gallon? if so and your positive she's holding put her in the ten so she isnt harassed or over stressed and she can carry the eggs then fry with ease. she will release when she cant hold them any longer, thats when you can take her out and start feeding your new fry ! :D

she'll look like this:

thanks mamafish
yeah it was the fact that her "chin" looked different when i went to feed them that i noticed & she didn't eat the cichlid pellets i put in, she just went up to them but didn't eat any. so i crumbled some flake food up & she nibbled at that.
only spare tank i got at the moment is a 12 gal with some 3+ month old albino corys in it. would that do ???
