Well we already have a 10g with 5 month old guppy and platy fry, 5g full of 2 month old mixed fry and 3 other jars(non perminent) with less then a month old fry then today 24 more newborns. Guess my fish think I have no life. :shout: LUCKILY, we have a spare 10gallon which will need to be setup and 2 stores willing to buy them from us at $1.50 a pair as adults. Not bad eh? I'll post updated fry pictures(including one of our goldfish fry :D) later folks.
Laura

UPDATE: Just setup the 10g for the 1 monthers and put all the newborns(which has risen from 24 to 31) in the 5g. Wew!

ahem congrats on yet more fry!!!! at least you can rehome them when theyre grown. we made a big mistake of getting a fry tank set up & putting mum swordie in just before birth..........50+ little orange swordies later!!! and they all thrived & survived. i loved having them but it was a bit stressful thinking omg what the h*** are we going to do with them all...luckily 2 different lfs took them off our hands for some plants & fishfood when they were bigger.
now we dont move mums but save the odd baby survivor we spot in the main tank & move them into the fry tank all a bit more controlled & much easier to get a lfs to take one or 2 at a time.
i dont like to think of babies being munched but as long as i rescue those i do see i can cope!!!

Thanks for your reply millym. Wow 50 is a big number. Yeah i never single out the mom, i think it's too stressfull to move her so i just let all the females give birth in the main tank which has loads of surface plants for the survivors. But I actually like finding and raising fry, especially guppies b/c you never know what colour they'll be. :D

Snowy, depending on where you're at and if you'd be willing to ship, once the fry are old enough (From either batch) I would mind buying 3-4 females and a male from you... I could probably pay 2$ each (Cheaper than my lfs but more than what your's was going to pay for them) and they'd be in a nice 30 gallon that right now only have 1 male and 1 female. ^_^

I've never shipped fish before but the only thing i think wouldn't make it worth your while is the shipping cost. That alone may make it more expensive then your lfs. :/ I don't doubt you'd be a good owner and would love to provide you with cheaper fish but I think it's gonna come up to around the same amount as your lfs. I'm from south dakota btw. But hey, if you ever come up to Sioux falls, I'll hook you up lol.

The number of 31 newborns has become 34.

^_^ From what I've gathered, Shipping Priority shouldn't exceed 15 dollars, and they'd be luffly home bred fish, not ones stuffed in tank at the LFS with their dead siblings. :/ I won't buy a fish from a tank with dead fish in it, and right now my LFS is in a bit of a slump as their regular guy got a different job and they're dealing with part time help.

Congratulations! I can't wait to see pictures! :D And I'm with Sanadi, I'd rather purchase from a good home even if the shipping is more $$. I might be interested in purchasing some from you myself! :)

:D Good good I know Betta's don't really need airstones or whatnot for shipping, since they breath at the surface, but since platies need oxegenated water XD I can't spell today. Anyways, look into it and keep us posted. Woot! btw, where are those fry pics? :good:
