media question.

planning head here. iv got 5 types of internal filter (sponge ones) 4 are running. i was thinking of give her a small cartage from the not running one. how long would a filter take to mature in a cycled tank?

this is a tinny filter mind you. (not sure of size i cant remember)

me to i love the hobby =] maybe its just my addiction to it >.>

typically, it takes 6 weeks running a filter side by side in a mature tank to establish a good bacteria colony. Or you can take some of your mature media and add it to his new filter to get a jump on a fishless cycle in his tank.

i think taking some of my media would would well =] i'll see what filter they have and stuff (see if its an easy swap. i dont have any spare media)
