Neptune, god of the Sea
Right now, about 30 seconds ago, I just saw my male mate with my female platy for the first time in the 3 weeks I've had them. For some reason up to this point he has shown little or no interest in her. (Maybe they wanted to wait, like good Christian fish: I think I saw the discus performing a marriage ceremony the other day
) I saw him swim up alongside her, really fast... saw the gonopodium curl over... saw the little flash of white that meant the sperm being transferred... Now I don't know if he actually succeeded in inseminating her, but i really hope so. I will be watching her carefully for the next few weeks. Hopefully I will be seeing some big changes happening. OMG I'm so excited and I don't know why: it's not like I haven't bred livebearers before.
It shoudl take about a month right?
PS It was purely coincidental... I just walked past my tank and glanced over, and saw it happen! I'm so lucky as I doubt many has actually seen this happen... if you have please say so.
