Yay My First Bettas

So I finally got my bio-spira, but the tank still isn't ready. Still alot of ammonia in the water since I was doing it the fishless way before I got the BS.
Really hoping the ammonia will be gone tomorrow or Sunday so I can put them in their new home
They're sitting in half gallon glass jars right now.. yes with lids heh. It's not great, but it's temporary and SO much better than them being stuck in those teeny cups.

Anywho! Here are some pics so far They're not very good since lighting is a bit low and the jars distort them a bit, but you get the idea of how they look lol.
They're SO cute! I'll be getting better pics of them once they're in their permanent home.


Here is the male I got. I was torn between him and a VT, but he seemed to be a little firecracker in his cup and I knew I had to have him.

And here is a female that I decided to get after much debate. There were SO many females that I wanted to take home... I was really torn between 3 other ones, but in the end, I decided on this one. I really like her brown/red color. I thought she might be the calm one of the 2 but she's turning out to be a little hyper thing as well heh.

Wow, your male is awesome! I love how his fins are such a bright blue color on top of a tan body!

Yeah he is very pretty. He also has some red in his fins as well. *sigh* I loves me new fishies! I can't wait to watch them explore their new homes!

No sorority tank for me. I'd be too scared that the girls would fight with eachother. So it's just gonna be a girl on one side and a guy on the other

Aww thats a shame I love seeing the girls all interact. But they can scrap sometimes, mine killed another girl a little while ago. I want to steal your boy though! What are your water stats in the other tank? Bettas arent always too bad in a not quite cycled tank.

Oh the ammonia is WAY too high to put them in there. I just put in the BS at around 5-5:30... and at the time ammonia wa about about 4-5... maybe a little bit more.

I put in an ounce of BS in my 10 gal though.. and since 1 ounce is supposed to treat 30gallons, I'm hoping that much will help eat up all the ammonia
If not, then well.. I still have some BS left, so I might just drain the tank and fill it back up with some clean tap and put more BS in there and then the bettas.

Welp, I've picked out some cheesirific names for them! YAY!
I love names that have meanings to them.. so off to a baby names website I went and I found these.


My little gal will be named Afia which means Given life on a Friday and since I got her on a friday and will be giving her a bettas life... tada! heh

And my little guy will be named Raj which means prince B/c ya know.. he's my special little guy and I'm gonna be spoiling the crud out of him (and her)

Oh that'd be pretty cool if she changed colors... I do hope she stays the color she is though. I'm really loving how her body is brown while her fins are red... she's just so pretty

this is the best pic so far. Really shows where the blue is on her. Wish the camera could pick up the blue hue on her scales, but meh heh

Yep.. definitely a female Probably is just the angle...in those pics she was kinda turning so it's elongating her a bit.
