today i put my platy in the trap at about 1:30, she had the fry between that time and 4:30, there are about 12-15 of them and she is half the fatness so is she done?

Thanks!! yay finally caught her before she had them :hyper: :hyper:

Jodie :hyper:

i would say yes she is done, if she seems a lot more active now, just release her and feed her...

Congrats

Best food is newly hatched brine shrimp, but you have to hatch this your self.

However crushed flake food will be fine, and get them some daphina now and then.

ok thanks! theres like 20+. what is the best fry food?

Thanks
Jodie!

Crushed flake, crushed protien foods, crushed pellets,...... grated frozen bloodworm and daphnia and brineshrimp (after 1 week)..

Or you could do what i do and blend it all together (not the frozen foods lol) and feed them that ;)

Crushed flake food will be grand for awhile. The grated blood worms are good as well when they get bit bigger.

Having some plants in the fry tank will help alot, as they will eat algae growing on the plants. Ive seen mine do this.

The yolk of a boiled egg is good as well, just mix it in tuperware container or something with water til really mushy and add a small amount to the tank. It'll create a cloud full of protein.
N.B. be sure to only add very small amounts as any left overs of the egg will really really stink out the whole room. (Speaking from experience LOL) :D

lol, thanks for your help! ill try that egg one soon,
also why are some of my platies white ?(see through) and some orange, both parents orange micky mouse

Thanks for your help!!

Unless you have had the female for quite a long time, well over 6 months, you do not know what color the male parent is. It can be any male she has had contact with in the last 6 months or more.

i feed mine on crushed (dust) brineshrimp , spirulina , algae and bloodworm as well as live daphnia and tiny bloodworms from about 2 weeks on they also get crushed flake
