is it wrong to work for a pet store that doesn't care for the fish properly?

I really want a job where I can work in the aquatics department but the only things around me are petsmart, meijer, and a local pet store that supports puppy mills.

having a moral dillema =(

get the job.. then exploit their ways!

but it really depends on how you feel about the matter. the world is corrupt and you have to be able to know what feels right to you. don't do anything because you need the money. you always have a choice.
if you do need the money and fish keeping is a passion (if not you wouldn't be on this site) then try to get the job, and after some time try to recommend changes in the division to help better the business and the welfare of the animals.. then exploit :p

I'd take the job and care for those little babies myself! maybe you can explain you are a fish hobbyist and show them proper care. i try to buy fish from stores like that to at least give them a fighting chance, usually i can nurse them back to health. maybe you can too!

I agree with Berry. Try getting a job there and show them how to properly take care of the fish.
I would go with Petsmart or Meijer (not sure what that one is), I would be reporting the other place that supports puppy mills.

You have to get and job as the only chance for the fish to be looked after right, is you. SO this is a job for you and a way to help those poor creatures in the shop.

Yes defiantly get the job that's what I did when I went to work as chessignton zoo. I knew they did not have a great animal care team and that the animals were not being supplied with enough enrichment and that there diets weren't right. I went for the interview got the job and turned the place around it's now much better at caring for its animals and I have moved on to an even better zoo.

thanks guys! It's just really frustrating that there are hardly any stores that have quality/exotic fish. The public is well aware of the puppy mill place, they protest every other month. The only reason I'm even considering it is because of they have both fresh and salt water fish.

Meijer is a grocery super store like Target or Walmart, and they have that mini section of fish. In fairness though I got an angelfish there and it outlived all my other fish from actual petstores. That lil guy was a fighter!
